Colorado Tech Weekly #292: Automation is Great When It Works

Colorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10 technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

This week it feels like 2019 is finally starting to kick into gear. It’s one of those weeks where I am REALLY tempted to share more than 10 things but I am stopped only by tradition and sheer stubbornness. However once I start posting these on the cool, new ColoradoTechWeekly.com I will have the option for users to get daily emails of Colorado Tech from me which will, hopefully, add some value for you.

Speaking of emails, as I get things set up for the new site I learned yesterday that my COTechWeekly@gmail.com email has NOT been being forwarded to my email inbox since… August I think. I noticed some cool tips and news stories that you’ve sent that I am very grateful for and very sorry that I’ve been ignoring.

As I get closer to Colorado Tech Weekly #300 which will be the last Colorado Tech Weekly post on ScottPantall.com I am increasingly wondering if I have any idea what I’m doing.

Look forward to the new and improved ColoradoTechWeekly.com and have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #288: New Offices, Strategic Acquisitions and Growth

Colorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

This week’s headline could be the headline for any Colorado Tech Weekly post, but I couldn’t think of a better summary. New workplaces for Western Union, Localhost Arena and Zayo. Acquisitions involving Sovrn, Swiftpage, Avoka and SendGrid and growth involving Jumpcloud, Liqid and Automox! That’s the real summary of the past week but that would make a really long headline.

The next Colorado Tech Weekly post will be delayed until December 26th because I don’t think anyone will pay much attention on Christmas Eve. Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #284: Amazon Finally Makes a Decision and It’s Not Colorado

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

The startup I work for (I keep wanting to say “My company” but I don’t want people to think I’m in charge) is hiring for a front-end engineer/designer, a full stack .NET engineer and a software implementation engineer. Infinicept is a very small company so we don’t have a single person to do recruiting and hiring, we just have us and it’s made me appreciate what work is done by a good “people person”. It’s also a great place to work (although I’m admittedly biased)!!

After months of speculation, hot-takes and wild-ass guesses, the Amazon HQ2 search is finally over. I could not be happier that it’s over. I don’t even care about the decision made by Amazon.

Colorado was one of the many reported options not chosen by Amazon and I don’t have much of a reaction to the news. I’m not sure that having a big Amazon tech office here would make much of a difference. We are not hurting for smart, innovative people who want to do new and amazing things with technology. We will just continue to grow our tech community with our patented inclusion and I’m very happy with that.

It’s getting close to the holidays so events are going to be sparse. If you have a tech event or a meetup group you want to promote, now is the time! Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #248: Big or Small, New or Old, Colorado Tech Makes News

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

One of the things I enjoy about doing this blog series is placing news about big, well-known companies like Amazon, Google and Level3 next to new or less well-known companies like Conga, Redeam and Automox. It’s important to me to point out that you don’t need to be big or well-known to make Colorado tech better and bigger. You just have to do cool things and tell people about it. That’s it!

Speaking of cool things, I’m done with schoolwork! No more. Nada! Done! Fin! No mas! I don’t graduate until May but all I have left to do for school is wait for the ceremony so I can wear the cap and gown. Woohoo!

Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #215: Another Week Where I Brag About Colorado

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

I was born and raised in Colorado so I’m going to admit I am biased about this state. In the 215 weeks I’ve bragged about the Colorado tech community, I haven’t yet been proven wrong about the reasons I love bragging about the Colorado tech community. It’s open, encouraging, cooperative and successful. It’s great to see that view repeated by others in Colorado.

The other great thing is that the Colorado tech community really exists all over the state. It’s not just Denver or Boulder or just the Front Range. Check out the CTA’s Colorado Tech Tour events next week to see what is going on in the rest of the state.

Have a great week!
