Colorado Tech Weekly #299: Guild Plans More Jobs, Maxar Cuts Jobs, and Sparkfun Plays With the Newest From Sphero

Colorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10 technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

It’s another week where we have a little bit of everything. I’ve finally caught up my Colorado Tech Weekly Email Apology Tour after learning that I haven’t been checking the email account for over a year. I’m fairly certain the new site is gonna work. I’ve learned about domain registration things… oh and there’s tech news of every kind! Hardware, satellites, blockchain, social media, healthcare, municipal news, etc. This week we get a little bit of everything including some bad news about Maxar and Colorado Springs.

Only 1 more Colorado Tech Weekly post will be on ScottPantall.com! If you’re in the email list, look for an email about the new site this week. Starting on March 18 (I didn’t do my previous math correctly) you’ll be able to find them on the new and improved ColoradoTechWeekly.com.

Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #288: New Offices, Strategic Acquisitions and Growth

Colorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

This week’s headline could be the headline for any Colorado Tech Weekly post, but I couldn’t think of a better summary. New workplaces for Western Union, Localhost Arena and Zayo. Acquisitions involving Sovrn, Swiftpage, Avoka and SendGrid and growth involving Jumpcloud, Liqid and Automox! That’s the real summary of the past week but that would make a really long headline.

The next Colorado Tech Weekly post will be delayed until December 26th because I don’t think anyone will pay much attention on Christmas Eve. Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #211: Not Just The Front Range, Serious-er Robots, Denver Comic Con

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

This week is my occasional reminder to myself that the Colorado tech community is bigger than just those of us on the front range. It’s a nice thing to remember.  I’m very interested in Sphero’s split into Sphero and Misty Robotics. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of innovative serious robots they can come up with.

This weekend is my yearly creative re-charge also known as Denver Comic Con! I always look forward to talking with talented artists, authors and game developers at DCC! If you’re going, lemme know. I’d love to meet you.

Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

Colorado Tech Weekly #196: It’s All About Community. Thank You For Being Awesome.

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

Maybe I’m naive or too optimistic or.. some other word I can’t think of. Maybe I’m still feeling the high of being done with my Calculus 2 course. But I am feeling the love in the Colorado tech community.

I struggle a lot with the question of “What kind of programming do you want to do?” because the technology being used at a company isn’t as important to me as the culture of the company. I’m just happy at the thought of being paid to make 1s and 0s do things with other nice, talented people. There’s a lot of great people in the Colorado tech community who make our community a place where people want to come and work and create and that’s awesome.

Thank you for being awesome. Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #100: A milestone, new buildings, cool jobs and startups

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

This is my 100th CONSECUTIVE Colorado Tech Weekly post and, frankly, I’m a bit surprised. I have a hard time doing anything consistently so for me to post these stories for 100 consecutive weeks is kind of a huge deal.

Speaking of big deals, Boulder Startup Week starts today. I’m going to the Boulder Beta event tonight, if you’re going I’d love to say high. I’ll also be at the CTA Volunteer Celebration next Monday at their cool, new Commons on Champa office. If you’re going to either one of those events, let me know. I’d love to say “Hi” in the real world.

I want to take a moment to thank all of you that read these posts, share them and talk about them. I don’t make any money off of writing these posts (although that probably would be a good idea). This is not a job that I feel forced to do. I do them to get my name out there and because it’s fun. You make it fun. I started off writing about the “Colorado tech industry” but I have changed it to “Colorado tech community” because there is a really cool community here. THANK YOU!
