Colorado Tech Weekly #264: Agriculture, Blockchain, Funds, Hiring and Offices

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

I could probably go on long tangents on most of the subjects in this week’s headline but I won’t because I like to keep my intro short so you can find the headlines you’re interested in and get on with your day. Let’s see if I can sum up each tangent:

  • Agriculture is an amazing industry for high-tech innovation that few people think about.
  • Blockchain tech interest is still more hype than knowledge.
  • Getting funding is cool, but not needing it is even better.
  • Colorado is still a great place to look for a software job. Speaking of which, my company, Infinicept, is looking to hire a mid-senior level .NET engineer. Come work with me!
  • How you set up your office can be both a great way to waste time and an important set of decisions to make your company more productive. Speaking of setting up offices, Infinicept got to set up our new office at Galvanize Denver Golden Triangle so if you end up at Galvanize, come say hi!

Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #202: Two JS conference recaps, two great WWC events and our tech scene is growing up

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

In previous CTW posts I have “complained” that I need new ways of saying that the Colorado tech community is growing. This week our stories point out how we aren’t just growing but we are growing up.  I especially like the Denver Post article by Tamara Chuang on this subject.

I’m going to keep doing my Tuesday coding Twitch stream. I’m starting to get halfway comfortable with it. I’m planning on focusing on writing code challenges in Java until something else piques my interest.

Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #50: Growth, more growth and an Airlife app

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

I work full-time as an emergency dispatcher, so the Airlife app story got me super excited! There needs to be more out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to technology and emergency services. If only there was some sort of event where creative minds got together to try to improve government services in Colorado…. OH WAIT! Hack4Colorado is this weekend!

If you are planning on participating in Hack4Colorado and you want some cool public safety ideas, let me know. I’ll give you all sorts of ideas. Unfortunately I can’t be there. I’ll be staying up all night waiting for 911 calls instead.
