Colorado Tech Weekly #210: ViaWest, Sphero and Revolar

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

One of the things I like about being a tech-enthusiast with a blog over being a journalist is that i get to unabashedly be a fan of different companies and people. So here’s the reasons I’m a fan of the companies in the title…

  • ViaWest: When I first started learning about the Colorado tech community, I was welcomed by CTA. ViaWest is a big supporter of CTA. CTA was nice to me. ViaWest was nice to CTA. Therefore ViaWest seems nice to me. It’s like an SAT question.
  • Sphero: In our household we have a SPRK, a BB8, an Ollie and the Force Band for BB8. We are just fans of Sphero. Sphero is also committed to STEAM education with their Sphero EDU app which I’ve yet to dive into since they recently made changes to it.
  • Revolar: For those of you who don’t know, I don’t work in tech yet. I work as a 911 dispatcher for a police department. I know how important it is for responders to get your location when you have an emergency and I think Revolar is doing it the right way.

I rarely post 2 headlines about the same story, but the ViaWest story seems like a big deal. I hope they continue to support the Colorado tech community as much as they do now.

Have a great week!

Colorado Tech Weekly #140: Sometimes being a day off is ok

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning (Unless it was a holiday. Hope you had a happy Presidents’ Day!)!

Ever have one of those days where you can never remember what day it is even though you know what day it is? It’s pretty annoying. I’ve felt that way for the past few days thanks to a nasty cold. Today’s Colorado Tech Weekly post is off a day too, but that’s because of Presidents’ Day. So because of the holiday, this post could be off a day so that I could recover from feeling off a day. I think…. I don’t know. Maybe I’m still a little bit off.

Colorado Tech Weekly #71: Aggregating the Aggregations

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

Ever say or think a word so many times it starts to lose its meaning? I just did that to myself with my headline. “Aggregating” is now just a jumble of too many “g” sounds in my head.

I like when actual reporters bunch together stories under a headline. It means I don’t have to be as picky when I pick my 10 headlines. This way I can have these 10 headlines about 25 Colorado companies.

Colorado Tech Weekly #67: EdTech, bought companies and new ideas

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

Last week was Denver Startup Week and it was a great reminder for me about two things. It’s great to be able to help other people and my list of 10 links to get you ready for Denver Startup Week post has had more views than I could have imagined. I love being able to help people and companies connect in Colorado. The other thing it reminded me of was that social networking over the interwebz is no substitute for in-person networking. I did not go to Denver Startup Week and I feel like I missed out on so much fun. Next year I’ll be there though.
